This is a live recording made in the mid-Seventies at an undisclosed location in front of a sizeable club crowd. Buddy Guy and Junior Wells are joined by two sax players, bass and drums. The music is loose and raw but played with feeling. You can tell they were having fun. The sounds from the audience makes you feel like you're in the club with them. If you are new to their music, this isn't the place to start. The sound quality is below par. It isn't balanced very well. It sounds like someone had the mic of a reel-to-reel tape recorder too close to the stage so the vocal speakers on either side of the stage were not picked up very well causing the vocals to sound muffled and at times echoey. Buddy's guitar however comes in clear most of the time (although slightly out of tune but hey this is raw blues) as does Junior's harmonica so if you are a fan and already own other stuff by them, this one is worth picking up to experience a typical gig at this stage in their musical careers. It's got its moments.
Some of the music is unrehearsed such as "Satisfaction" where Buddy keeps playing the main riff over and over without going through any of the changes in the song. Others are more familiar material in which they let loose a bit. Put this on after you've had a couple of beers, turn up the volume and imagine you're at the club! ~Review by Sea Otter
